Arike Ogunbowale is an American professional player who plays for the Dallas Wings of the Women's National Basketball Association. Her name was chosen as the 5th selection overall in the 2019 WNBA Draft by the Dallas Wings. Arike Ogunbowale was born Milwaukee Wisconsin on March 2 1997, was the daughter of Yolanda Ogunbowale and Gregory Ogunbowale. She has two brothers Mario (26 years young) and Dare Ogunbowale (20 years old). Her parents spoilt her the most due to her being the most young. Gregory's father was part of the Nigerian Army. Ogunbowale is from a very active lineage of family members. Her brother Dare played football and Yolanda, her mother, was a softball player. Her aunt was a volleyball player at UAPB and the cousin Endia Oliver too plays Volleyball at Tennessee State. Ogunbowale has been in the school's honor roll for three consecutive years. Ogunbowale won gold medals at the 2013 U16 FIBA Americas Championships as well as the 2014 FIBA U17 world Championships, and the 2013 FIBA 3x3 U18 Championships. In July of 2014, she was selected to be a member of the USA Youth Olympic Women's Basketball Team. Ogunbowale is also named for the ACC All-Freshman Team for her debut collegiate season.
