Madhuri Dixit

Madhuri dixit is an acclaimed Indian actress, known for roles in Hum Aapke Hain Koun. She was first known for her 1980s role in Tezaab where she co-starred along with an established actor Anil Koopor. Her next role was in Dil which she starred alongside Aamir. When she was a kid her Mumbai-born dancer started learning at an early stage. While still a teenager she attempted acting, however most films she attempted to make did not succeed. Her fame grew and she became one of India's top film actresses. She took a break from acting due to her marriage, before going back to the entertainment industry. Dixit played an important role on Gulaab Gang, a film that explores the struggles of women in India. Dixit received eight Filmfare Awards out of the fifteen nominations she received. Padma Shri, the fourth-highest civilian award given to civilians in India is bestowed to Dixit. She has also been recognized for her efforts in the field of social work.
